Can My Windshield Crack Be Repaired?
Not all windshield damage requires a full replacement. Repairing a chip or crack is faster, cheaper, and maintains the factory seal of your windshield.
The "Dollar Bill" Rule
Generally, if a crack is shorter than a dollar bill (about 6 inches), it can be repaired. If a chip is smaller than a quarter, it is usually a prime candidate for repair.
Location Matters
Even small chips cannot be repaired if they are in the driver's direct line of sight. Repairs can leave a slight blemish, which could distract the driver. Additionally, damage that reaches the very edge of the windshield compromises structural integrity and usually requires a replacement.
Act Fast
Changes in temperature (like turning on your defroster on a cold Virginia morning) or hitting a pothole can cause a small repairable chip to split into a massive unrepairable crack. Get it fixed immediately.
