How Long Does Windshield Replacement Take?

The actual physical replacement of the windshield typically takes an experienced technician between 60 and 90 minutes. This involves removing the old glass, cleaning the frame, applying new urethane, and setting the new glass.

Safe Drive-Away Time (SDAT)

This is the most crucial part. After the new windshield is installed, the urethane adhesive must cure. Driving before the SDAT is met is extremely dangerous; a sudden stop or crash could cause the windshield to pop out. Depending on the urethane used, the temperature, and the humidity, SDAT is usually 1 to 2 hours.
